How to Market Your Business Without Burning Out (Even If You “Hate” Marketing)
May 28, 2025Feeling like you hate marketing? You're not alone.
Let me guess: you love your work… But the moment you have to market it, a wave of dread washes over you. 😩
That used to be me, too.
I come from a teaching background—not business, not marketing. Everything I know, I had to self-teach. The strategies. The systems. The content calendars. The awkward first YouTube videos. ALL of it. So if marketing feels unnatural or overwhelming for you, you are 100% in the right place.
🎯 Why Marketing Feels So Draining
Here’s the hard truth:
You probably don’t actually hate marketing…
You hate doing it with the pressure of instant results.
If your posts always turned into sales, or your videos brought in dream clients consistently, you'd probably LOVE marketing, right?
We all love things that are working.
But we’ve been trained to measure marketing success with things we can’t control:
- Likes
- Follows
- Leads
- Revenue
That’s a recipe for burnout.
💡 The Shift: Let the Plan Become the Goal
In Q1, I set a goal to get a lead from YouTube.
But about halfway through, I realized something:
I couldn’t control whether someone clicked, watched, or opted in.
What I could control? Showing up every week.
So I changed the goal:
➡️ Instead of “get a lead,” the goal became: “post one video per week.”
12 weeks. 12 videos.
I posted 10. Imperfectly. And you know what? It worked.
The plan became the win. And the leads followed.
✅ Let Go of Perfectionism (It’s Not Helping You)
Were the videos perfect? Nope.
Did I cringe at a few edits? Absolutely.
Was the strategy still being built on the fly? You bet.
But here’s the thing:
Those 10 imperfect videos reached thousands of people.
That’s hours of watch time. That’s impact.
If I had waited for it to be perfect, NONE of it would exist
🙌 You Have to Feel Successful to Keep Going
Consistency doesn’t come from pressure—it comes from identity.
I started talking to myself differently:
- “You did that, girlfriend.”
- “You showed up even when you didn’t feel like it.”
- “That video? Good enough is GREAT.”
Even the tiniest task—writing a script, researching a title, building an opt-in—became a win. Because I was training my brain to see progress.
Motivation comes from momentum.
🌀 The Process Is the Outcome
This is the part most entrepreneurs miss:
✨ The process is the outcome. The becoming is the outcome. ✨
You’re not marketing to hit a metric.
You’re marketing to become the version of you who leads, inspires, and shows up consistently.
That energy?
It gets reflected right back to you—in leads, in conversions, and in trust.
