I turned down a Tony Robbins job this week. Here’s why…
Last Thursday was weird.
6:26: I wake up from a vivid dream with Tony Robbins in it. We were at his house. I sang him Happy Birthday. I had a chat with his wife Sage, about her new program. And then, boom, I’m awake.
6:27: I think… That’s super weird. I haven’t had Tony on the brain. That came out of nowhere.
6:29: I get a text message from Tony’s Director of Events.
6:32: I’m on the phone and get offered a job.
And the whole freaking time it felt like a big ‘ole test from the Universe.
Here’s the thing. I wanted to say, “YES.” Listen, my lil ego was like, “Girl. You crazy. This is Robbins we’re talking about.” But the lil voice was like, “Girl. Thank God. You can see this would be repeating old patterns.”
Because embedded in every yes is a bunch of nos. And I am was a bona fide “Yes Woman.”
-
Yes, I can do that.
-
Yes, I can find the answer for you.
-
Yes, we can make that happen.
-
Yes, we can move up the deadline, basically meaning I have to twist my entire life into a pretzel to prioritize your needs over mine.
Bottom Line. A YES felt like a commitment to who I was rather than who I’m becoming.
So I said NO, and with it, a yes to THIS. 👇
Welcome to the first Newsletter in my series, Unfiltered: the Creator’s Truth.
In this 8-Week “Making Of” series, I’ll walk you through my first launch since 2018. And it’s giving “meta” energy because, well…
-
I’m an agency owner/serivice provider who’s building an experience on how to create experiences.
-
I’m learning to embody the exact transformation (again) that my clients need to learn to embody.
-
I’m doing the exact real-world-3D tasks that my clients need to do.
So it’s going to get weird. And awesome. Because I’m going to be putting the ups and downs and no-movement moments on display.
Which, to be clear, is another thing that I don’t WANT to do. 🙂 BUT there’s a hurts-so-good feeling as I type every letter of every word of this newsletter. Without AI I might add.
My lil ego is like, “Jonte, you’re bananas. What if you put it all out there and fail in front of everyone!” But the little voice is like, “And what if you do? The gold comes in the becoming.”
Let’s get it.
Each week leading up to launch, I’ll share…
-
This Week’s Build – What I worked on (offer development, visuals, voice notes, etc.)
-
An Energy Check-In – How I felt and what came up (say hello to my limiting beliefs)
-
A Shift I Made – A mindset, strategy, or workflow pivot
-
What’s Next – Preview of what’s coming or decisions in queue
And that starts today.
This Week’s Build – Pricing Strategy
This week I set my price of my program. It wasn’t actually that hard.
Logic with me…
-
Dollar Investment ROI
-
Most of my new students will back their investment in 1-5 sales of THEIR program.
-
Time Investment ROI
-
That’s harder to measure, but I’m seriously decreasing the Time Delay it takes for people to DIY their program. At least cutting it in half… which means it’s available for sale much earier.
Embody with me…
Here’s the thing… I have a premium, bespoke agency. I’m used to selling high-ticket. So I don’t feel like I need to do much to embody the price that I set. My thermostat is already set hot enough to feel good about the price. If anything it’s like, “Seriously you’re charging too little.”
Which brings me to the point of a BETA LAUNCH.
See, a Beta Launch (launching a program before you build the program) comes from beta “test” in the software world. This isn’t the idea that you need to “fill seats” or “hit a number”... it’s a test meant to real-time test the features and find the bugs. The conventional wisdom is that you price the program and half of what it will cost once it’s built.
Hence my feeling of, “Seriously, you’re charging too little.”
Inspired by my own Pricing Strategy decision, it became the topic for this week’s Youtube Video. You can check it out here.

An Energy Check-In
I asked myself, “Is this going to be in service of or a detriment to my agency?”
I love the agency side. I love done-for-you work. I love creative directing. Like I really do actually enjoy it. Our team is fucking fire. Our work just gets better and better. Giving experts something that they’re proud to put out there is so rewarding. And sharing in their impact - the ripple effect of that - is just - it literally is giving me chills as I type this.
AND
I have a desire for what I’m calling the “studio side.” A maker space for all the creators on the come-up. Who are more time rich than cash rich. Who might burn the eff out if they don’t have system and support to go from “The content is all in my head.” → “I have a predictable, repeatable process that others can follow to achieve results.” To teach people to fish rather than give them a fish.
For our business, I have a desire for an offer that provides value not because of the work produced but the process provided. (Told you this was going to get meta.)
Where the agency is delegation, the studio is empowerment.
Where the agency is “You hand us the vision. We’ll build the course.” the studio is, “You’re building the course – but you’re not alone.”
A Shift I Made
Writing this, right now, is the biggest shift I’ve made.
- Making the time.
- Getting it done.
- Getting it OUT.
- Planting my flag.
- Claiming my space.
Never leave the scene of a decision without first taking a specific action toward its realization. - Tony Robbins
As a teacher, I have such reverence for MY teachers. I’d like to think he’d be cool with me saying NO to him. (And yes to me.)
What’s Next
On my radar this coming week are…
-
Final Call: Will we offer a VIP Tier or not?
-
Project Management: Put the Launch in ClickUp.
-
Calendar Management: Blocking time based on the Proj Mgmt Board.
Tune in next week. ;)
And if you dig this, reply back and lemme know. Pls.
Godspeed,
Jasmine
